Tascam celebrates 50 years of home
Tascam is one of these brands that almost every musician of a certain age will recognize. For me and countless others, Tascam will always be synonymous with his 4-track porta studio. As a would -be guitarist, who later became a mediocre bass player, the Tascam Porta studio was the stuff of the legend. Around the middle of the nineties, the porta studio was the best way to bring demos down. With mine I recorded demos to join bands as ligaments Queen Adreena (almost that too, including that!) And Cradle of the dirtAmong many other local outfits.
It is time to put on their best dance pants and celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tascam – the company that effectively invented the home studio if not revolutionized.
It is no exaggeration to say that Tascam irreviously influenced the way people make music. From the 4-track porta studio to the DA-88 Digital Multitrack Recorder awarded with the Emmy Award to the model series in the company, and Tascam has also newly defined and home-loving audio production to high-end production facilities and leading installations around the world.
Tascam’s heir dates from the late 1960s when the Tani brothers, who were both engineers, and Dr. ABE, Senior Engineer at Teac, formed a special F&E group called TASC (Teac Audio Systems Corp.). The focus of TASC was to research the possibilities for using teacs recording technology to musicians and recording studios.
In 1971 Tascam (TASC America Corp.) was founded to distribute TASC products in the USA and carry out additional market research. In 1974 Tascam was from the rapidly growing Teac Corp. Of America Sales and Distribution Company, and Tascam became the official brand name of all TEAC recording products that were specially developed for musicians and recording studios.
The Tascam name has a rich story in terms of its technological successes and the artists and engineers who used Tascam products.
For example, the Tascam 80-8 Tape Deck was a semi-customs open-ober-8-track audio recorder and was used to record the votes from R2-D2 And C-3PO In the creation of the first star Wars Film, A new hope1977.
In recent history singer/songwriter/actress Lady Gaga‘S father gave her a porta studio when she was about 11 years old. Thinking about the gift, she said “I could just sit on the piano and connect a microphone and recording alone. This is probably the best gift my father has ever given me.”
Similar, Bruce Springsteen Use a porta studio 144 to record the 1982 album.
Tascam products were literally used on tens of thousands of recordings and hundreds of gold and platinum records.
Tascam users and potential customers have a lot to look forward to throughout 2021. Various advertising campaigns are planned in which music fans have the opportunity to expand their arsenals. Of course, Tascam will introduce new products in 2021 and also address a wide range of applications.
From a musician who will be 50 to the manufacturer of products this year and has helped and designed so many musical careers, a happy tascam of half a century!
In the Specal 50.-Aniversary page you will find messages and special functions on the TASCAM website.
